for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
at Davidson College

The NEXT (Network Engage eXplore Together) Level is a program designed to offer first-generation sophomore students:

  • Mentorship, through professional guidance
  • Skill building, through paid project work

NEXT Level students will be matched with a company or entrepreneur in the Davidson area that will provide a paid short-term project, working five hours a week, over eight weeks, to complete their project. Client partners and students will meet once a week to discuss progress on the project and engage in a mentoring session.

Davidson College Students

NEXT Level is for you, if you identify as a first-generation* sophomore student. This program is designed for first-generation sophomore students; however, all students are welcome to inquire about the benefits of this and other programs sponsored by the Hurt Hub and Matthews Center for Career Development.

*At Davidson College, a student identifies as a first-generation college student if neither parent/legal guardian graduated from a four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

The NEXT Level program starts at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters.

Each week, plan to dedicate about six hours to the NEXT Level program; five hours a week to the project and one hour to connect with your client. Once a month, the NEXT Level program will meet as a group either in the evening for dinner or during common hour for lunch to cover a professional or personal development topic.
