Davidson College campus bookings

Library Renovation Update:

While the Library is closed for the next two academic years, the College and the Hurt Hub are partnering to offer more free space and programming options to all on campus. All are invited to work and learn at the Hurt Hub with us during this time and beyond! The booking information and the FAQ below provides more details about space use and reservations.

FAQ'S

What you can expect as you work with our team and use our space.

Staff are in the building

Monday – Friday
8AM – 4:30PM

The building is open M-F 8am – 5pm, and will be Catcard access only from 6am – 8am and 5pm – 11pm. Please note there will not be Hurt Hub staff in the building before 7:30am and after 5pm.

We will designate the following rooms for campus departments to book at no charge, beginning June 1, 2025. The below rooms may be booked up to one academic year in advance. All bookings will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • Room 302, great for up to 10 people, will be added to EMS and will be bookable 7 days/week from 8am – 5pm.
  • Room 303, our large event room with capacity up to 40 people, is bookable in EMS for events on Mondays and Fridays 8am – 5pm set as a classroom, pods, or theater-style. Requests for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays should be directed to Keith Varriale (kevarriale@davidson.edu), who will address them on a case-by-case basis, based on availability.
    • Of note:
      • We are only able to accept 1 event per day; availability is first-come, first-serve.
      • Capacity is 40 people maximum.
      • No student groups will be allowed after 5pm, unless they are co-sponsoring an event with the Hurt Hub.
      • Those reserving are responsible for all catering and tech set up. If you need additional tech assistance, please contact T&I.
      • Due to the additional stress on building, we will not be able to accommodate round tables in room 303 for formal dinners with the exception of those events in which the College Relations Events Team staff is leading. Bookings of this nature will require reserving the room for 2 days. All physical plant work orders will be charged back to the department. Any furniture that will need to be moved will be covered by pipe and drape in the corner of the room as we do not have storage at the Hurt Hub.
  • 3-days notice to book any room is required; rooms can be booked up to an academic year in advance.
  • Rooms 208, 203, 311, Forest Systems 212, or Social Commons / Patio combination  will be charged hourly at the discounted member rate.
    • Social Commons / Patio combo (depending on the weather) can be booked by faculty or staff after 5pm M-F. Student groups are not allowed to book spaces in the Hurt Hub after 5pm, unless co-sponsoring with the Hurt Hub. Those booking the space are required to return the space to the original format including moving furniture, disposing of all trash in the dumpsters, cleaning countertops, etc. Any physical plant requirements will be charged back to the department.
  • All are welcome to use our open spaces (e.g. those without a door or name placard on a desk) in the Social Commons, Van Deman Innovation Lab, Patio, and other common seating areas to work, collaborate with others, or meet with a guest. We ask that anyone from campus refrain from using desks in the Dedicated Desk area on the west side of the building.
  • We expect that you clean up after yourself, take trash out to the dumpster, clear the tables, reset chairs/tables, etc. when you’re finished working for the day. We need to refresh our spaces each morning for all coworking members, campus, and guests.
  • Tech is available as is in each of the conference rooms. Staff are available for light assistance during business hours.
  • Beverages (coffee, tea, sparkling water) are included for room bookings only. If you’re working in one of the open spaces, we ask that you pay for all beverages at the kiosk in the Social Commons.
  • Be green! Please walk, bike, scooter, rather than drive to the Hurt Hub. Golf carts are permitted by the loading dock behind our building.

Please see the information above the FAQ section to book space at the Hurt Hub.
