Lucid Drone Tech began, as most ideas do, as a brainstorming session between friends. Andrew (CEO), David (CFO), and Adrian wanted to make a dangerous job, cleaning multi-story buildings, safer by utilizing technology. The three applied for the Davidson College Venture Fund Competition and were paired with a group of local mentors through the LaunchLKN community (Mike Marvin, Jim Patterson, Louis Foreman), who each went on to serve as advisors for Lucid.
Through Lucid's active participation in LaunchLKN after the venture competition, they formed a relationship with Mark McDowell, who routinely offered guidance and mentorship throughout their time at Y Combinator, their rounds of funding, their pivot during the pandemic, and more. In June of 2021, Lucid and Mark formalized their relationship when they welcomed Mark to the Board to continue guiding Lucid in its continued growth.
