From Funding Victory to Children’s Book Success: Carson Crochet’s Entrepreneurial Journey Continues

When Carson Crochet ’22 stood before the judges at The Hurt Hub’s Nisbet Venture Fund Competition with her innovative comfort plush company CA’Buddy, she demonstrated the kind of creative thinking and heart-driven entrepreneurship we love to celebrate. Now, we’re thrilled to share another chapter in her success story – the release of her children’s book “Little Kitty, Big City,” available at Davidson’s own Main Street Books.

Carson’s entrepreneurial journey began with a deeply personal mission. After her mother’s cancer diagnosis, she founded CA’Buddy, creating care packages and plush naked mole rats (nature’s most cancer-resistant animal) to provide comfort to cancer patients during treatment. Her compelling pitch earned her $25,000 from the Nisbet Venture Fund, a milestone that helped transform her vision into a thriving business.

Now, Carson is expanding her creative horizons with children’s book “Little Kitty, Big City,” proving that entrepreneurial spirit knows no bounds. The book’s arrival at Main Street Books brings her story full circle, connecting her continued success back to the Davidson community that supported her earliest ventures.

From comforting cancer patients with care boxes and innovative plush toys to capturing young imaginations through storytelling, Carson exemplifies how entrepreneurs can evolve and grow while staying true to their creative vision. Her journey from Nisbet Venture Fund winner to published author showcases the diverse paths our alumni forge after graduation.

We invite our community to support Carson’s latest venture by picking up a copy of “Little Kitty, Big City” at Main Street Books in downtown Davidson. Her story reminds us that the entrepreneurial skills cultivated at The Hurt Hub can lead to unexpected and delightful opportunities.

Carson’s journey continues to inspire us, and we can’t wait to see what she does next!
