GETTING STARTED

INTERESTED IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP? OR
WANT TO GET INVOLVED AT THE HURT HUB?

WE’RE HERE FOR YOU.

Have an idea for a business venture, but aren’t sure about the next step?

Or perhaps you are curious about interning with a startup to see what all the hype is about. Maybe you are in search of funding to help make your dream a reality. You’ve come to the right place. Founded in 2013, the Davidson Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative (I&E) has connected numerous teams with experienced entrepreneurs who have been down the same road. In addition to I&E, opportunities for students abound at The Hurt Hub.

Student Experience Coordinator, Liz Stevens ’16, is here to help you get plugged in. Drop us a line and we’ll schedule time to talk!

3 Day Startup runs immersive entrepreneurship programs over a three-day period for aspiring entrepreneurs and startup communities at colleges and universities. Apply today for the September 2018 cohort!

The I&E Internship Program is a summer program for talented Davidson students who want to learn about innovation while making an impact. Join startups or innovation-oriented companies to gain first-hand experience about what it is like to work on big problems in an entrepreneurial environment.

The Failure Fund is a grant competition that awards Davidson students with up to $1,000 to pursue a creative or innovative idea. Why call it a failure fund? Because failing is part of the creative process! Remember that trope about Thomas Edison failing hundreds of times before he created the light bulb? Yeah, we want that to be you.

The Davidson Venture Fund is an annual spring pitch competition that gives students and recent alumni the opportunity to compete for up to $25,000 in investment in their innovative, for-profit ventures. Finalists receive up to four weeks of coaching and mentorship from seasoned entrepreneurs before pitching live on-campus in front of a panel of investors and entrepreneurs!

I&E Internship Grants support Davidson students pursuing unpaid or low-paying internships with entrepreneurial-minded organizations. Found the perfect internship? Check out the timeline for 2019 grant applications!

The Avinger Scholarship rewards one or two current first years, sophomores, or juniors who show the vision, qualities, and passions of an innovator. As a scholar, you receive funding of up to $5,000 to assist in accelerating your proposed idea — think seed funding, tuition assistance in an incubator program, business travel for idea development, and more!

We’ve compiled a list of resources that Davidson students often find valuable. Many of these resources are free or provided free-of-charge to students. Explore our directory and chat us if you’d like to suggest we add anything to the list!
